Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we learned 2 Chinese idioms-- guā shú dì luò shuǐ dào qú chéng. Today, we will learn the difference between “坐” and “座” in Chinese.

zuò

 坐  is usually used as a verb, mean " to sit, be seated; take a seat;  travel by; take". e.g.

zuò xià                          qǐng zuò

  坐   下 (sit down)          请    坐 (please sit down)  

zuò zài shā fā shàng

 坐   在   沙  发     上 (sit in the couch.)

zuò huǒ chē lǚ xíng

 坐    火    车  旅  行 (travel by train)

zuò gōng gòng qì chē shàng bān

 坐     公       共   汽  车      上      班

(Take the bus to work)

zuò

 座  is usually used as a noun, mean a " seat, place, base, stand ". e.g.

zuò wèi                   jiù zuò

  座   位(seat)          就   座 (take a seat)

zuò zài zuò wèi shàng

 坐   在   座    位     上  ( to sit on a seat )
