宣 王
(a posthumous name of the king of qi dynasty)
Once upon a time, there
was a king of Qi dynasty in ancient China whose posthumous name is Xuan Wang.
He liked to listen to the music, especially Yu music. So he asked a group like
an orchestra with 300 musician playing Yu instrument together. Nanguo who used
to be a scholar in government asked to play Yu for Xuan Wang. Xuan wang was
very happy, (I don’t know why there was no audition at that time.) and offering
all living supplies to the hundreds musicians in the orchestra. When Xuan wang
died, and his son whose posthumous name is ming wang became the king.
Min wang preferred to
listen yu solo and he asked all the musician to play solo to him one by one. Nanguo
ran away from the orchestra when he heard about the rule.
Example:
wǒ bù huì chàng gē, wǒ
zài zhè'er zhǐ shì làn yú chōng shù.
我 不 会 唱 歌,我 在 这 儿 只 是 滥 竽 充 数。
I am not good at singing. I'm here just
to make up the number.
你也来用滥竽充数造几个句子吧!
Please use this 滥竽充数 to make some sentences if you want to.
