Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we learned the difference between “” and “” in Chinese. Today, we will learn the difference between “侯”and“候” in Chinese.

1.   princes and marquises; the nobility

          jūn hóu
              (marquis)

2.   a nobleman or a high official

hóu mén sì hǎi
          (A rich man's mansion is difficult of access.; A nobleman's mansion is deep like the sea -- inaccessible.)

3.   a surname

gōng hòu
        (await respectfully)
qǐng shāo hòu yī huǐ'er.
                儿。(Please wait a moment.)

2.   send one's regards

wèn hòu
      (greetings, send one’s regards)

3.   time; season

qì hòu                   
  (climate)      

shí hòu
    (Time)

nǐ shén me shí hòu yǒu kòng?
                      空?(when are you free?)

4.   condition; state

          huǒ hòu
              
          (duration and degree of heating, cooking, smelting, ect.
            Or a crucial moment)

          tā bǎ chā zi chā jìn ròu lǐ, jiǎn chá yī xià huǒ
                           
          hòu gòu bù gòu.
                      .
          (He sank his fork into the meat to see if it was 
           well cooked.)
