Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we talk about identifying people in Chinese. Today, we will talk about appearance in Chinese.

wài biǎo / biǎo miàn

  外   表  /    表     面  (Appearance)

tā yǒu yì shuāng  lán sè de yǎn jīng.

他  有  一      双       蓝  色  的  眼    睛。

(He has blue eyes.)

shēn sè pí fū

  深    色 皮 肤 (dark-skin)

tā gè zi hěn ǎi

她 个子  很  矮。(She is very short.)

wǒ gè zi hěn gāo

我   个子   很   高。(I am tall.)

nǐ  hěn shòu

你   很    瘦。(You are thin.)

tā hěn miáo tiáo

她  很    苗     条。(She is very slim.)

tā shì gè shòu gāo gè'er.

她  是  个    瘦    高    个儿。(She is tall and slim.)

wǒ yǒu diǎn'er pàng.

 我   有    点   儿   胖。(I am a little bit fat.)

wǒ yǒu yī tóu zhí  fǎ.

我    有  一  头   直 发。(I have straight hair.)

nǐ yǒu yī tóu  hēi  sè de juǎn fǎ.

你  有  一  头   黑    色 的   卷   发。

(You have black curly hair.)

bái xuě shì zōng sè de cháng tóu fǎ.

白     雪   是    棕   色  的     长     头   发

(Bai Xue has long brown hair.)

tā shì duǎn fǎ.

他  是    直   发。(He has straight hair.)

tā hěn kě'ài.

她  很   可爱。(She is cute.)

tā hěn shuài.

他   很     帅。(He is handsome.)

tā hěn hài xiū.

他很害羞。(He is shy.)

nǐ hěn yōu mò.

你  很    幽   默。(You are very humorous.)

tā hěn fēng qù

他  很    风    趣。(He is very funny.)

tā shì gè hěn ān jìng de hái zi.

他  是  个   很 安   静   的  孩 子。

(He is a very quiet kid.)

tā de jiǔ wō hěn mí rén.

她 的 酒  窝    很  迷  人。(Her dimples are very charming.)

huān  tiān xǐ dì

  欢      天  喜 地 (entrancement；in seventh heaven；be extremely delighted)

tā zhèng huān tiān xǐ dì, bèi tā fù qīn dǎ duàn le.

他    正      欢     天   喜地, 被  他 父  亲  打    断   了。

(He was interrupted by his father while he was in the midst of his rapture.)

你  是   谁？(Who are you?)

wǒ shì bái xuě

 我   是  白   雪。 (I am Bai Xue.)

nà biān nà gè rén shì shuí？

 那  边    那  个  人   是   谁？

(Who is the guy over there?)

tā shì bái lěi,  tā shì wǒ dí gē gē.

他  是  白  磊,  他 是  我  的 哥 哥。

(He is Bai Lei, and he is my brother.)

tā shì gàn shén me de？

他  是   干     什    么 的？

(What does he do for a living?)

tā shì gè yī shēng.

他  是 个 医    生。

(He is a doctor.)

nà gè nǚ hái shì nǐ de mèi mei ma? (jie jie)

那  个  女  孩  是  你 的   妹    妹  吗？(姐 姐)

(Is that girl your little sister?) (older sister)

bù shì,   tā shì wǒ de péng yǒu.

不   是，她  是  我  的    朋     友。

(No, she is my friend.)

tā yě shì xué shēng ma?

她也   是   学      生     吗？

(Is she a student too?)

bù shì,   tā shì wèi wǔ dǎo jiā.

  冰     清   玉  洁(as clean as ice and as pure as jade; pure and noble)

(How long will it take this letter to get to USA?)

zhè gè bāo guǒ  jì dào měi guó yào duō shǎo qián?

  这  个  包    裹   寄 到    美    国    要     多     少     钱?

(How much does it cost to send this parcel to USA?)

wǒ xū yào zhè ge bāo guǒ jǐn kuài  jì dào.

 我  需  要    这  个   包    裹  尽    快   寄 到。

(I need to send this parcel as fast as possible.)

wǒ xiǎng  zhī dào zhè fēng xìn shì fǒu chāo zhòng.

我     想      知   道    这   封     信   是   否     超      重。

(I wonder if this letter is overweight.)
