Chinese Language Learning Program
Lesson 88 – Identifying people in Chinese

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we talk about at the post office in China. Today, we will talk about identifying people in Chinese.

nǐ shì shuí
    谁?(Who are you?)

wǒ shì bái xuě
         雪。 (I am Bai Xue.)

nà biān nà gè rén shì shuí
               谁?
(Who is the guy over there?)

tā shì bái lěi,  tā shì wǒ dí gē gē.
           哥。
(He is Bai Lei, and he is my brother.)

tā shì gàn shén me de
              的?
(What does he do for a living?)

tā shì gè yī shēng.
        生。
(He is a doctor.)

nà gè nǚ hái shì nǐ de mèi mei ma? (jie jie)
                   吗?( )
(Is that girl your little sister?) (older sister)

bù shì,   tā shì wǒ de péng yǒu.
   是,她               友。
(No, she is my friend.)

tā yě shì xué shēng ma?
她也                 吗?
(Is she a student too?)

bù shì,   tā shì wèi wǔ dǎo jiā.
   是,她             家。
(No, she is a dancer.)

Ok, today’s idiom is:

bīng qīng yù jié
(as clean as ice and as pure as jade; pure and noble)

tā shì yī gè bīng qīng yù jié de nǚ hái.
                   孩。
(She is a pure and noble girl.)

Ok, that is all for today.

xiè  xiè!
    ! (Thanks!)

xià  cì  jiàn
     !  (See you next time!)
