Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we talked about how to getting a haircut in China. Today, we will talk about going shopping in China.

gòu wù zhòng xīn / shāng chǎng
                 /             
(shopping center; shopping mall)

shāng diàn                        chāo shì
         (shop; store)           (supermarket)

shū diàn                            mǎi dōng xi
     (bookstore)                   西(go shopping)

shòu huò yuán
             (salesman; sales clerk)

guì                                pián yi
  (expensive)             便   (cheap)

dǎ zhé                          fù qián
   (on sale)             (to pay money)

qīng cāng
       (final clearance )

kè hù fú wu
    (Customer Service)

shòu hòu fú wu
            (After-sales service)

bàn jià
    (to sell at half price; to give 50% discount)

nǐ mǎi shén me?
          
(Can I help you?  (literally - You're buying what?))

nǐ hái yāo mǎi shén me ne?
                   (What else do you want to buy?)

zhè zhī tài guì le,  nà zhī duō shǎo qián?
        了,那               
(This's too expensive, how much is that one?)

zhè kàn qǐ lái zěn me yàng?
                 (How would this look?)

qǐng wèn zhè jiàn yī fú duō shǎo qián?
                           
(May I ask how much is this clothes?)

wǒ zài nǎ'er fù kuǎn?
          (Where do I pay?)

tǎo jià huán jià
          (Bargaining)

zhè ge duō shǎo qián?
                钱?(How much is this?)

nà gè duō shǎo qián?
               钱?(How much is that?)

zhè zhí duō shǎo měi yuán?
                     元?How much is this in US dollars?

hěn pián yi
      便  (It's a good deal.)

pián yi yī xiē hǎo ma?
  便           (Can I have it for a little bit less?)

wǒ xiǎng mǎi liáng xié
                   (I’d like a pair of sandals, please)

néng gěi wǒ yī gè shōu jù ma?
                    吗?(May I have a receipt?)

nǐ men shōu měi yuán ma?
                     吗?(Do you take US dollars?)

nǐ men shōu yīng bàng ma?
                        吗?(Do you take British pounds?)

nǐ men shōu xìn yòng kǎ ma?
                       ? (Do you take credit cards?)

Today’s idiom is:

shuǐ luò shí shū
          
(When the water subsides, the rocks emerge.; Doubts will clear up when the facts are known.; reach the bottom of sth.)

For example:

tā shì tú bǎ zhè jiàn shì nòng gè shuǐ luò shí chū.
                                 出。
(He is trying find out what really happened.)
