Chinese Language Learning Program
Lesson 131 – The usage of le in Chinese

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we talked about how to use yòu, zàiand hái in Chinese. Today, we will talk about the usage of le in Chinese.

le
: indicates the completion of action

bái xuě zuó tiān méi lái.
                 来。
(Bai Xue did not come here yesterday.)

bái xuě zuó tiān lái le.
              来了。
(Bai Xue came here yesterday.)

bái xuě zuó tiān lái le ma?
              来了  吗?
(Did Bai Xue come here yesterday?)

bái xuě zuó tiān lái le méi yǒu?
              来了      有?
(Did Bai Xue come here or not yesterday?)

le is used with “yǐ jīng, 已经”  to indicate that the action has been finished.

wǒ yǐ jīng gào sù guò nǐ le.
                你了。
(I’ve already told you.)

tā yǐ jīng lí kāi le.
他已    了。
(He has already left.)

Ok, that is all for today.

xiè  xiè!
    ! (Thanks!)

xià  cì  jiàn
     !  (See you next time!)
