Lesson 125 – A Chinese tongue twister—en and --ing

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time we talked about Chinese Question Words. Today, we will have a Chinese tongue twister—en and –ing.

pén hé píng

(Pan and Bottle)

zhuō shàng yǒu gè pén,
                                                         盆,
(A pan is on the table)

pén li yǒu gè píng,
                                                    瓶,
(there's a bottle in the pan)

pēng pēng pēng,

(bang, bang, bang.)

shì píng pèng pén,

(Is it the bottle hitting the pan,)

hái shì pén pèng píng.
                                                       瓶。
(or the pan hitting the bottle?)

Today’s idiom is:

qí  hǔ nán xià
(ride a tiger and find it hard to get off; get into a position from which there is no retiring.)

tā fā xiàn zì jǐ yǐ jīng qí hǔ nán xià le.
他发     自己已           了。
(He found himself have got into a position from which there was no retiring.)

Ok, that is all for today.

xiè  xiè!
    ! (Thanks!)

xià  cì  jiàn
     !  (See you next time!)
