Lesson 26 – Colors in Chinese



Hello, everyone. It is so nice to see you again today. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time, we learned week days and months in mandarin Chinese. Today, we are going to learn colors in mandarin Chinese.

Before we start to colors in mandarin, we need to check the homework I gave to you last time.

hóng   huáng   lǜ
                   绿

Now we can start to learn colors in mandarin.

hóng sè      huáng sè      lǜ  sè         chéng  sè        fén hóng sè
                            绿                                     
    (red)           (yellow)     (green)          (orange)             (pink)

lán sè          zǐ  sè              hēi  sè          bái  sè             huī  sè
                                                             
(blue)        (purple)            (black)        (white)              (gray)

yín sè          zōng  sè         jīn  sè

nǐ   de  chē shì  shēn me  yán  sè?
                           色?(What color is your car?)

wǒ de chē shì bái sè  de.
               的。 (My car is white.)

xí  huān  lǜ sè de xié  zi.
          绿     子。(I like green shoes.)

Please read the following Chinese characters by using the Chinese pinyin you have learned. I will read them in our next class, so you can check if your pronunciation is correct.

  1. Hello Bai Xue, I found your blog while looking for material about shapes in Chinese. I have seen brown and orange expressed as 褐色 and 桔色. Are these the same as 棕色 and 橙色? Can I use them interchangeably?
