Lesson 27 – Opposites in Chinese
Hello, everyone. It is so nice to see you again today. This is Baixue’s Chinese Language Learning Program. Last time, we learned colors in mandarin Chinese. Today, we are going to learn opposites in mandarin Chinese.
Before we start to learn opposites in mandarin, we need to check the homework I gave to you last time.
dà xiǎo duō shǎo
大 小 多 少
We use a lot of opposite words in our lives. Today we are going to learn some opposite words in mandarin Chinese. Let’s see the text.
dà, xiǎo duō, shǎo
大 小 (big/large, small/little) 多 少 (Many, little/few)
qiáng, ruò yìng, ruán
强 弱 (strong, weak) 硬 软 (hard, soft)
gāo, dī (ái) zāng, gān jìng
高 低(矮) (tall, short) 脏, 干 净 (dirty, clean)
nán, róng yì chōu, méi
难， 容 易 (difficult, easy) 丑， 美 (ugly, beautiful)
guì, pián yì zhòng, qīng
贵， 便 宜 (expensive, cheap) 重， 轻 (heavy, light)
pàng, shòu/miáo tiáo fù yōu, pín qióng
胖， 瘦 / 苗 条 (fat, thin/slim) 富 有， 贫 穷 (rich, poor)
jīn tiān tiān qì hén rè / lēng.
今 天 天 气 很 热 / 冷。(Today is hot/cold.)
zhè shì bēn xīn / jiù shū.
这 是 本 新 / 旧 书。(This is a new/old book.)
wǒ páo de hén kuài / màn.
我 跑 的 很 快 / 慢 。(I ran very fast/slow.)
qīng (guān shàng) / (dā kái) mén.
请 关 上 / 打 开 门。(Please close/ open the door.)
tài cháo / (ān jìng) le.
太 吵 / 安 静 了。(It is too loud/ quiet.)
zhè gè píng zì mān/kōng le.
这 个 瓶 子 满 / 空 了。(The bottle is full/empty.)

Just practice the opposite words and sentences we learned today.
